Re: Ezra church- regiments engaged?

Whew! so many! There has to be several Thomas Howle's in that bunch of regiments to sort through. Oh well if it was easy it wouldn't be fun! Thanks.

I know nothing about Thomas Howle but since he is referred to as "uncle" then presumably he is the brother of Jane Pamela Howle that married Miles Simmons. Their son Robert Thomas Mickleberry Simmons (of the 40th Alabama Inf from Sumter county AL and the one who wrote of "Uncle Thomas Howle's death) was born in Troup county Ga according to his obit. Someone has a letter (copy) written after the war (can't remember the year) from a Dr. James Howle to RTM saying he had checked on their grandfather's land in NC. So as you can see they had already "spread out" in two generations from NC before the war. Now you know as much as I do about my Howles "which ain't much"! I was told "one of the Howle relatives settled in the Lake/ Forest MS area sometime after the war" but that is a "family story" with no name attached however since RTM went there and so did many other people it isn't far fetched.
