Re: Info for book on 1st GA (Ramsey's)

Hi Shawn,

Would love to have more information on Prouty. Henderson's "Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865 has the following listing under the 12th Georgia Artillery Battalion:
"Prouty, William H. --- private in 1st Co. A, 12th Battn. Ga. Light Artillery April 10, 1862. Transferred to Co. A, 63d Regiment Ga. Inf. October 1862 . Detailed in Quartermaster Dept. as carpenter. Detailed to government works at Thomasville, Ga. June 13, 1863. Paroled at Greensboro, N. C. May 1, 1865."
Henderson does not list a William H. Prouty in the roster for Company I, (Walker Light Infantry). I have a regimental roster that was published in 1890 that shows an "H. Proutly" listed for Company I. Proutly is listed as having been wounded at Laurel Hill on July 12, 1861. The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System website by the National Park Service does show a W. H. Prouty in Company I.
Do you have more information about William? I would like to make sure he is referred to correctly in my book.

Thanks,
George
