Muster roll of Co A 65th Regt, Georgia Infantry shows E. Madison Morris enlisted as a Private in that unit July 25, 1863. (My great, great grandfather served as the company's 1st Sgt at that time). Madison was appointed 4th Corporal Sept 1, 1863. Records indicate he deserted at Dalton, Ga. Feb 23, 1864. (Born in Rutherford Co. NC in 1841).
