Georgia 1st Infantry Regiment, State Line
Organized at Camp McDonald, Big Shanty GA. on February 21st 1863. Two cavalry companies were assigned to the regiment at various times in 1864 and 1865. Surrendered by Governor Joseph Brown on May 7, 1865.

First Commander was Colonel Edward M. Galt
Field Officers were Major John F. Groves and Lieutenant Colonel Albert Howell, also Major J. N. Scott and Major William Tate.

Peach Tree Creek - July 20th,1864
Atlanta - July 22nd 1864
Atlanta Siege - July-Sept. 1864

Griswoldville - Nov. 22, 1864
Honey Hill - Nov. 30, 1864
Savannah Campaign - Nov.-Dec. 1864
Savannah - December 1864
Columbus - April 16, 1865
