Hello Cousin

Hello Cousin,

My name is Thomas Beusse, I am 24 year old student at the University of Georgia and myself and my family still reside in Madison County/Athens, GA. How are we related? I can answer. I am a decendant of JHD Beusse, via Wm. Henry Beusse to Jesse Hoyt Beusse (your granfathers brother I believe) to Jesse Quinton Beusse to Dr. Terry Q. Beusse to me, Thomas. You are correct as to that book being the only biographical reference to Johann Heinrich Deidrich Beusse in plain and easy text. However, I am my dad and uncle have been researching him and our family for years. My current undertaking is finding out more about his Wife (Tempy Trammell, from Lumpkin Co., GA)If you have seen census record over the 1850's-1880's you will see that our ancestor had many jobs (liquor distributor, billiard hall owner) I have only speculate why his brother (Capt. Henry) and he had such a 'falling out', but the best I can figure is that it may have something to do with an 1870's Athens Resolution that prohibited alcohol sales. It would have to be something big to cause such a disparity between two Germans in the new world. I have not much more unfortunately, but I am trying; even this afternoon by walking through the Oconee Hills Cemetery behind Sanford Stadium looking for our ancestors resting place as the books says it's there, but for years I have looked to no avail. Are you related to Carol? I hope to hear from you soon.
