Where would recruits from Augusta be sent to camp?

What is an Indepentent Company? What was the reason for them?

Would the Captain of the same company be the payee, or could another be the payee?

What is the difference in Light Artillery and Light Artillery Reserve?

I know these questions might sound off, but I am curious.
