Yes, that would help clear up a number of issues. I would like to see a copy of the document in question. There were no prisons for Confederates in Georgia, so the document you mentioned must have been a parole or oath of allegiance to the U.S.

If I recall, we never were able to establish the residence of the soldier in question (Texas or Alabama). I'm sure we mentioned that no such unit named 22nd Alabama Dragoons existed during the war.
