Ms. Hartt, in inquiring about Col. John R. Hart you have opened Pandora's box. The evolution of the man's Civil War experience is fascinating. At the start of the war Hart was a prominent citizen, prosperous farmer and preached a Sardis Church. By the end of the war he was arrested by the union government as a war criminal! Hart's story is further intrigued by scandalous behavior, involving women and alcohol. Above all, he was a brave and extremely accomplished soldier. The 6th Ga. was in over 175 engagements and battles, Far to many for me to type out in an e-mail. I can also share more info on Col Hart.
