James B. Hardee enlisted in the 1st Florida Cavalry (Special) Battn. He lived in Madison County FL most of his life and filed for a pension there.
Pension applications for Robert A., Thomas J., James B., Gardner S. and Allen W. Hardee tell us a great deal about these men. For instance the application filed by Thomas J. Hardee mentions that he lost his right leg due to a wound and that he was born in Bullock County GA on May 20, 1837.
Service records are available for all these men, including Andrew J. Hardee, two years older than James B. Hardee.
