Jim, I have been trying to establish whether I am a decendent of the Cherokee Vanns or not. I have been able to trace other surname decendents to Scotland, Ireland and England but with my Vann side of the family I have come to a wall as many other Vanns seem to have. My great grandfather Burrell Vann was first emumerated in Bartow County in 1850 and he reported he was born in South Carolina about 1824. The trail runs cold at that point. Burrell Vann served in Co C of the 64th Ga Regt during the Civil War. Perhaps one day I can establish my Native American blood line.
