The soldier's full name is Thomas Melville Wisdom, but he sometimes gives his name as M. T. Wisdom. That's the way he appears on the 1860 census as a resident of Whitesville.

The young man first enlisted in the "Whitesville Guards", 20^th Georgia Regiment. A physical description of Wisdom appears in this service file, who gives his occupation as 'student'. He reenlisted in another Harris County company several months later and was assigned to the color guard. One account states that he was killed at Franklin TN, Nov. 30, 1864.
