The diary was from my Grandfather's estate in the Knoxville, TN area. The name of the author of the diary was Alexander Quarterman. It was more of a Quartermaster log that listed most of the unit and their pay periods. He also had some immediate post-war entries as the quartermaster on a plantation outside of Savannah, GA.
I actually took a vacation back to GA and met with the Quarterman family and they showed us where most of the soldiers were buried. Have you been to the Walthourville area?
