At Chickamauga, like other national military parks, the vast majority of monuments represent Federal commands involved in the battle. Relatively few Confederate monuments are there.

The acorn or buckeye (Aesculus glabra) is the Ohio state symbol, so most Ohio monuments here and elsewhere will include an acorn. Perhaps you saw the Ohio monument pictured below --

Your boyfriend seems to have a lively imagination and the ability to create a believable story on the spot. Watch out for that guy! ;-)
