In Response To: Montgomery Guards - Augusta GA ()

"The Montgomery Guards, Captain Cleveland, of Augusta, Georgia, will take their departure this morning to join Colonel Smith's Twentieth Georgia Regiment."
“Movement of Troops”. The [Richmond] Daily Dispatch, October 9, 1861.

See also the Augusta Daily Constitutionalist, numerous instances, especially in 1861 - in January the paper shows the "Montgomery Guards" commanded by Capt Cleveland; in December, it places it with the 20th Ga. NARA RG109 M861 for the 20th Georgia, and Henderson's Roster, both place the Montgomery Guards with the 20th Georgia.
