Hello Alan, John Newton Flowers father was Major John Y. Flowers of Company A of the 38th Georgia Infantry. Like you I am NOT finding anything on John N. Flowers. I should be able to find something in the 1864 Georgia Census for example in Atlanta. One might assume that this doctor might have attended the medical school at either Augusta or Emory at Oxford. Needless to say you are correct is stating that NOT all doctors were Confederate doctors.
