Excellent link. It's nice to see that Southern states are finally placing monuments and memorials in national battlefield parks, but it seems unlikely that the number of Confederate monuments will ever approach the vast array of Federal monuments.

I'm not aware of a similar rule at other battlefield parks, but at Gettysburg Confederate monuments could not be placed where the fighting actually took place. For instance, memorials for the Federal troops who defended Little Round Top are located along their lines, but the beautiful Alabama monument for soldiers attacking that position had to be placed more than a mile away. Georgia and South Carolina monuments are located in the same general area.
