I'm disturbed by this information regarding the desecration of Union graves by members of the 21st Georgia Infantry; however, this is a fact-based, sourced discussion. I won't censor such postings, but if others have information that the claims are false or the documentation is questionable, I would encourage that it be posted here.

I am concerned that this discussion will stray from the 21st Georgia and become a general discussion of atrocities or desecration committed by both sides, at which time, we'll need to end the thread or transfer it to another location.

As a descendant of Confederate Cherokees, I'm quite used to claims of desecration, torture and "scalping", most of it unsourced and unjustified. BUT, there were individual acts of barbarism, which cannot be denied. Unfortunately, though rare, there were certainly some bad men who also wore the gray.
