This is correct, and applies to almost every clothing receipt roll I've ever seen.

Having been through the microfilm for this particular cavalry battalion, it will be quite difficult to determine which officers and men served with Early in Virginia and Maryland during 1864 and which ones remained in eastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. Requisitions by officers may help with numbers for each company.
