Sheila, I have looked at W.H. Stringfellow's pension and have learned serveral important clues. The last date I see him is 1896 in Bainbridge, Georgia which is in Decatur County. His pension for 1895 is in his own handwriting and his writing is poor.
After the War he returned to farming in Georgia and was also a blacksmith. In 1895 he listed his physical condition as being extremely feeble and had chronic diarehea. He also listed himself as nearly blind. He owned no property or had any income. He says his daughter took care of him at times. He listed himself as being born in South Carolina in 1820 and had been living in Decatur County Georgia since 1848.
Sheila this is pure spectulation on my part, but I would think that he died in either 1896 or soon after. His only means of income was the pension and his late date for applying for it was in 1896. My best guess is that his body is buried somewhere in Bainbrigde,Ga., if NOT Decatur County.
