OK I think I have a better picture now.

Right across the street from the Marietta Cemetary at the time of the war was the GMI or Georgia Military Institute. The Cadets from the institute were young students like VMI or West Point. Sherman burnt it to the ground after he left marietta. It was used as a Confederate and Union Hospital. I'm not sure but they may have referred to it as "Academy Hospital".

Many years ago me and a friend published a booklet naming the known names from the Marietta Cemeetary. Right after the war the UDC got a grant from the state to dig up soldiers from the battle of Chickamauga down to Marietta and re-bury them in marietta.

There were two ledger books they listed the names or whatever part of a name they could find when they dug the soldier up. One of the books was destroyed in a fire and the other book is in the hands of my friend. I copied many of the pages in order to put the book together and went to look and see if I still had the information. I found it last night and the J.W.W..... guy was listed.

It says he did not die in Marietta. He was dug up in Chickamauga in October 1867 and brought down to Marietta and buried there.
