I have been doing more work on my problem. After the battles of Nashville and Franklin have read the Hood ended up in Mississippi with around 21,000 Men. Were some of these men part of N. B. Forrest Cavalry? I am trying to find the reson that Thomas Jefferson McClain would be in that area.
