Hello,

The Allatoona Pass Battlefield is located off of the Emerson Exit off of I-75, and is easily accessable. The battlefield parking lot is located in front of a leevee, and members of the the Etowah Valley Historical Society, and Georgia State Parks have recently put up new interpretive signs.

Rowelett's Redoubt no longer exists as the site is now on private property. However, half of the Star Fort is on public land, and in fact, around 90% of the battlefield is now under the jurisdiction of the US Army Corps of Engineers and GA State Parks.

In addition to the new interpretive signs, there are also monuments located on site. Currently, there are monuments to the troops from Missouri, Texas, and Mississippi. There are plans to have monuments to represent each state that fought there. For pictures of the battlefield, you may want to check out the website for the Etowah Valley Historical Society at: www.evhs.org.

Overall, from the parking lot, you can take a self guided tour. Interpretive signs, and trail signs are placed as to give you an understanding of the history of the pass, what happened at a given location, etc.

If I can be of more assistance, please feel free to contact me at royqueen@yahoo.com. I am the ranger that maintains the site, and occassionally leads tours of the site.
