Go to the link which is a web page for the 65th Georgia. Here is the listing for your ancestor in Co. D, 65th Georgia: "Miller, Eli -- Private in Inf. Battn., Smith's Legion, Ga. Vols., May 6, 1862. Transferred to Co. D, 65th Regt. Ga. Inf., Mar. 1863. In Knoxville, Tenn., hospital, Aug. 25, 1863. Paroled at Greensboro, N. C., May 1, 1865."

This site has a lot of wonderful analysis of the units, their fights, there attrition rates, etc. You can also post YOUR email address there so others doing similar research can get in contact with you. The webmaster is also posting pictures of the soldiers as people contribute them. My ancestor in this regiment is Benjamin Griffith Charles in Co. A. Check out the story I sent in to the website which is posted under his entry.
