Re: 60th NC Inf Reg/ Find Elijah L. Lawson

Mr. Burgess,
Your recent response to my quiery about possible burial sites for Elijah L. Lawson was that he was in Row 5 at CSA section, Linwood Cem. at Columbus, Ga. On investigating this lead, I found a list of soldiers in Lindwood in section M, Row 5 that showed a U. Lawson of the 6th NC Inf and a E.L. Dawson also of the 6th NC Reg. I contacted the officials and after being told that they had no listing of a E.L. Lawson, I enformed them of what I had found and they said they would do a physical on scene observation of the marker and see if there was a mistake. Question? Where did your info derive from and where does the info come from that is actually on the markers? Your valued opinion comes into play here. Could there be a mistake of the name, Lawson to Dawson? The 6th from the 60th? Was there a 6th NC reg with a E.L. Dawson of Co. B. as a member? Cemetery officials haven't followed up as of date. They said they would check last Thursday.

Thanks, Jim
