Re: 60th NC Inf Reg/ Find Elijah L. Lawson

Jim: In response to your questions: I found the listing of the Confederate Burials of Linwood Cemetery on line at:
members.aol.com/CGAutry/confed.html

The were two listing associated to your interest.
1. U.Lawson, Co. B. 6th North Carolina and immediately below that was
2. E. L. Dawson, Co. B. 6th North Carolina.

I do not have access to the service CSA records but Broadfoot's Compiled Listing shows:

1. E. L. Lawson, Co. B. 60th North Caroilna but no listing under the A's for the 6th or 60th North Carolina inf.

Broadfoot does not have a listing for Dawson (E) or (A) for either the 6th or 60th North Carolina Infantry.

The cemetery listing was obviously copied from inaccurate records from years gone by. Incomplete or inaccuate spelings and listed regiments are to be expected form time to time.

I still believe that your ancestor, Elijah L. Dawson, Co. B. 60th North Carolina is one of the two listings at Linwood Cemetery at Columbus, Georgia. But which grave is he in, the Lawson or Dawson? That's the question.
