Re: 24th Ga Infantry - Virginia & Pa. action

Mr. Poe,

The best starting point is to begin by reading the Official After Actions of the regimental of brigade commanders. Then if you can find journals, diaries, and reminiscences of soldiers that participated. You can find these reports in the "Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies of the War of the Rebellion (128 volumes)" You might find some information from veterans in "Confederate Veteran (43 volumes)" magazine that was published from 1893-1932, and being that it was a Army of Northern Virginia regiment General Jubal Early may have been gracious enough to allow mentions in "Southern Historical Society Papers (55 volumes)."

It would be a rare occasion to find a specific mention of an individual company singled out in an action unless it was a journal, diary, or a reminiscences of a participant.

I hope this provides you with a starting point. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Respectfully,
