The Southwest Georgia Regional Library in Bainbridge has a pretty good genealogical collection. You may want to contact the library and/or the local Decatur County Historical Society, in addition to the local UDC chapter. Also, if he was married and his widow filed for a Ga. CSP, there is a slim chance that his death certificate or record of burial might be in the pension record. Both the Ga. and Fl. Archives have copies of the Ga. pension index and pension applications on file.
