Re: Private John C. Spivey, 2nd Georgia Infantry

Mr. Johnson,

How do I begin thanking you for all the valuable information?

Other than Emory University, do you know where I can get complete copies of Lt Fogle's letters from the formation of the regiment/company to the post-Sharpsburg period that includes Spivey? I assume they were never published.

I've already placed a request with my local library for The Columbus Weekly Sun. Hopefully it can be obtained on microfilm.

Regarding "sharpshooters", is it possible that any of the Columbus Guards may have been armed with Kentucky Rifles at Sharpsburg?

Thanks again for writing such an exhaustive, informative reply.

Scott
