The record shows that Franklin M. Walters was captured at Gattysburg on July 3rd rather than a day earlier. Both Confederate and Federal sources use July 3rd as the date of capture.

Confederate wounded in Federal hands were treated in field hospitals and forwarded to POW camps when able to travel. Walters went immediately to Fort McHenry, arriving on July 6th, and then to Fort Delaware, where he remained until after Lee, Johnston, Taylor and Kirby Smith surrendered. Walters isn't reported as wounded and captured on his company roll, nor do Federal sources mention medical treatment at any facility, POW or otherwise.
