Re: Wounded Georgians at Gettysburg

Jim, this James Stone is clearly a mixup--my James Stone is o n the 1860 census of Coffee Co, GA. He was born in 1838 at Stone Mountain DeKalb Co, GA--far north GA but was down in far SE GA with relatives when war broke out-I've had some conversations with librarian down in Coffee Co about this--not born in 1828. Do you think the VA hospital record numbers may show his age, where born ? The info I have is that a few men from north GA specifically from DeKalb Co were enlisted into 5oth GA, and I'm aware of the other James Stones who also lived in Coffee Co. In fact I find no other James Stone in census of 1860 in either GA or AL who are shown as age 22 in 1860. How can we resolve this conflict? Surely there is some record that shows age of patient, next of kin or ? Was Irwin Co a part of Coffee Co before, during or after Civil War? Thanks for anything that you have that can resolve this conflict of such common names--I don't have anything that shows my James Stone had a middle name.
