Jim, its a mystery and I'm puzzled on how it can be resolved. Do you know exactly where GMD 1026 is? Seems to be some conflict on these James Stone (with and without middle initials) even online in Civil War Soldiers amnd Sailors system. John W. Stone also on 1860 census Coffee Co, GA from GMD 1026 too, he's shown in Co. G, 50th GA; James J. Stone 1n 22nd GA, in Co. I and at Gettysburg ; and J.A. Stone (AKA James) in Co. C, 50th, and a J.A. Stone Co. B, 23rd GA--tho in ANVA not shown at Gettysburg. Common Names can sure get mixed up in heat of battle--maybe medical records too. Got any idea where CWSSS records come from--state archives or NARA-or both? Questions, no answers.bob
