I am interested in any informtion you may have come across about doctors assigned directly to the 38th GA Infantry. My Great Great Granduncle, Dr. Robert G. Holloway, Jr. served in the CSA Medical Service and was transferred in 1864 from the 40th Alabama Inf. (after the battle of Atlanta) back to the Army of Norhern Virginia and assigned to the 38th Georgia Infantry. At the time of his transfer he was an Ast. Surgeon (Capt.) He was promoted to Surgeon (Maj.) on April 1, 1865 while still with the 38th GA.

In checking his military records, he does not appear in Virginia records after his transfer to the Army of Tennesee in 1864. He is however, included in Georgia Records. His transfers all come from the Surgeon Generals office in Richmond. (prior to 1864 he served in Richmond at hospital #6, next at a hospital in Montgomey County,VA "White Sulphur Springs") He was transfer to the Army of Tennessee, 40th Alabama while they were still at Chatanooga, TN. I would be interested in any medical records of soldiers he treated, or wrote papers for. I have a copy of a document he wrote for a 40th Alabama private who had a leg amputated. The record is in Dr. Holloway's hand writing and he is verifying the injury so that the private can get a medical discharge and compensation for his lost leg. Thank you,
