That hasn't changed in the past 150 years, I think ! Having lived in this county for the past 44 years, I see no indication of it ever changing. Once the mind is made up, and that takes considerable time & thinking outloud, it remains unchanged regardless of any facts that might come to light. I'm sure they still think you are wrong and they are right. However, facts being what they are, you definitely have to pursue several avenues to be sure of the right person since names did duplicate more than most people realize unless they are serious historians such as yourself or genealogists as I am.
