Benjamin Franklin Smith was a "blacksmith and wagon driver" for Co. A, 8th Georgia Battalion. Ben F. Smith apparently was 49 years old when he enlisted in April of '61. He was captured at Kennesaw, according to the records my uncle found. He lived in the Cassville area (in Bartow County) after the war.

I'm not having a very easy time finding information about the 8th Georgia BN. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
