Particularly interesting would be reports from the 7th Regt. Miss.(Col. W.H. Bishop, Lt. Col. B.F. Johns, commanding); Blythe's Regiment (Later 44th Miss., Maj. Thompson, commanding); 9th Regt. Miss.(Col. White commanding); 9th Battn. Miss. SS, Capt. Osbourne, commanding); 10th Regt. Miss. (Lt. Col. James Barr, commanding); 41st Regt. Miss. (Col. Ball commanding); and Garrity’s Alabama Artillery, Lt. Garrity, Lt. Bond commanding).
These reports could be a part of the unpublished portions of the Official Records-Supplemental, that are held either by state/federal archives or university collections.
Just as primary sources like letters, diaries and post war accounts are valuable, after battle reports not included in the official records, newspaper articles and other contemporary documentation are also valuable in placing units on the battlefield; and in many cases locating the burial sites for men who died in the battle since many were buried where they fell.
If anyone has access to reports, references, or any other unpublished sources that are relevant to the story of the Confederate Brigades at Stones River (Murfreesboro), please post those resources so others can benefit from the information.
