Do you know where your grandfather was living at the time of the war? As you can see from other responses there is an R. Holland in the Compiled Service Records for the 19th Georgia regiment. He was shown as a member of Company E, which was organized in Heard County. That is southwest of Atlanta on the Alabama border. The other three Holland's in the regiment were in Company K, which was organized in Cass (now Bartow) County. That is northwest of Atlanta and 50 miles or more from Heard County. Since the vast majority of company members were from the county where the company was organized (or a nearby county), if Robert H. Holland lived in or near Heard County, that might give some idea how likely it is that he is the R. Holland in the records. In any event, while he may have been a member of the regiment, it's very unlikely he was a colonel during the war.
