It would appear from the following thumbnail sketch that he escaped the ultimate.

I do not take the Federal records regarding deserter status at face value. In this case
it may be warranted.

His records in the Compiled Service Records contains an enomorous 197 cards. No doubt
the records of his courts martial. I have never seen a file this large!

These may obtained through the service noted above.

* Released 6/19/1865 Nashville, TN
