WILLS Edward Groce

Edward G Wills died in Hospital 21 in Richmond Virginia. He was born and raised on the Jackson Athens counties border. Does anyone know if there is a burial in Georgia for him?

He died of dysentery at #21 hospital in Richmond.
Listed as Lt Col, Co.K, 6th RGT,GA INF Muster Roll 4/20-8/311862 shows he enlisted 7/12/1862. Could have been in Prev. Military Service. Listed as E.G. Wills, Edward F Wills, E.G. Willis, Edward F Willis.
Report of sick and wounded, General Hospital #21 (Maryland Hospital and Gwathmey Hospital) for month of September 1862 shows he died of chronic diarrhea 9/23/1862 Hospital morning report dated 9/23/1862 shows he returned to duty on 9/1/1862 but readmitted to hospital 9/9/1862 died 9/23/1862.

Register of deaths in General Hospital # 21 Pvct Co H, 6th GA RGT Ward B died on 9/23/1862 pocketbook contained $47.10 , one pair of spectacles turned over to Capt Morfit. Reciept for effects of soldier dated Oct 7, 1862 unsigned. A number 45582935, 3/31/1904, 3/31/1904 rubber stamped and written under it, Capt K. 6th GA RGT. Raised by sister Betsey (Elizabeth) 1838 Edw. G Wills purchased 166 acres of land from Henry Justice in Parks Creek Jackson Co Georgia.
