No, Sir, I never had the honor of sailing in Intrepid. I was on the sea trials of the Enterprise, CVN 65, and flew off her in the second COD she launched, right behind Admiral Rickover. I also flew off a couple of jeep carriers, Thetis Bay and Guadalcanal, on Marine amphibious landing exercizes. In the Med in '66, the French returned one to us. It was so filthy and rat infested it was used for target practice. I was in a chopper overhead when a tin can put 15 of 18 rounds in her bow. She went straight down in just a few minutes, leaving hardly a bubble. Later that day we had swim call off the St. Paul. I got to thinking about watching an 800' ship slip into the deep, and got back aboard the cruiser. I was never ship's company, but as a Combat Camera Crew member on both oceans, I sailed everything from mine sweepers to nuclear subs to the Enterprise with some Boston Whalers and rescue craft inshore. Glad you're back safe ashore. Stan
