I have before me an unpublished official report written by Gen. Benjamin Humphreys of the actions of July 26, 27 and 30, 1864 at Tilghman's Gate, Va. These fights were part of what is known as the First Battle of Deep Bottom.

Referring to an action late in the day of the 27th Humphreys says that the Federals made a feeble attack on his extreme left and that it was easily repulsed by General ---- (no name given but probably Bryans) with the 10th Regiment and Marytown's Legion.

What is the Marystown's Legion?
