The 58th Massachusetts was recruited late in the war so the possibility you proposed is limited to the period begining in May 1864 until the regiment was pulled out of line at the end of the summer. This took place after heavy regimental losses in the engagement of Poplar Springs Church.

During the campaigns of 1864 the 14th Georgia Regiment was assigned to A. P. Hill's 3rd Corps, Wilcox's Division (Maj. Gen. C. M. Wilcox) as part of Thomas's Brigade (Brig. Gen. E. L. Thomas). At that same time the 58th Massachusetts belonged to Ambrose Burnside's IX Corps, 2nd Division (Brig. Gen. Robert B. Potter) as part of the 1st Brigade (Col. John I. Curtin).

The other limitation concerns the two soldiers you mentioned. We would need to know if they were present or even on roll during the period in question.

Do you have their service records?
