Co. I 2nd GA Battalion

I have a question about Co. I 2nd Georgia Battalion. According to the Alabama Department of Archives and History Civil War Service Database, the ADAH has an original roll dated at Cave Springs, GA, 17 September 1864, for Co. I 2nd Georgia Battalion, Sharp Shooters, Brice's Company. The roll contains the name of Charley Pruett. According to the roll, Pruett enlisted at age 16, on 17 September 1864, at Cave Spring. There is a notation that Charley Pruett lived in Calhoun County, Alabama, which fits with the man I'm researching who did live in Calhoun County, AL during the 1860's. Also, the age of 16 fits with date of birth of the Charley Pruett I'm researching. I believe this to be the same Charley R. Pruett who in 1915 at age 68, applied for and subsequently received a pension in Alabama. However, in his pension application, he stated that he had served as a Private in Co. E Hardie's Battalion and that he had enlisted in the fall of 1863 at Cave Spring, GA. I have reviewed Co. E muster roll, and I do not find Pruett's name listed. In addition, I've read that Co. E was organized 1 August 1964, which was a full year after Pruett stated he'd enlisted. I wonder if Pruett's recall at age 68 of the unit in which he served at age 16 was in error. Or was there some connection between Co. E Hardie's Battalion and Co. I 2nd GA Battalion? I have searched the NPS site for Pruett, as well as the varied spelling of Pruitt, with first names of Charley, Charlie, Charles and C. R. So far, I have not been able to locate Pruett's military service record in either unit. Any help with sorting this out will be appreciated.
