Here is what our Family History has. Achillies Garrard Ballinger was Marion County Missouri 21 Dec 1835 married a Olive Mary Polly Keith (born 21 Dec 1838 at Maysville Arkansas d 1 June 1891) Achillies taught school before attending Medical School in Princeton Missouri. He was a Doctor in the Civil War and was killed when he and two friends were returning home(UNK) to visit his baby daughter. The other two men escaped but Achillies was killed and scalped. They buried him and went on. When they returned to recover his body they could not find it as it was in heavy brush (In Cookson Hills) another location unknown to me. In the Marion County Missouri History written in 1884 He show only under his father as being killed by Indians during the Civil War. His family later moved to Okla and son Easthman moved to Perry Okla and Sulpher Springs Okla. A son married a Cherokee and is burried along with some family in Big Cabin, Okla. So I'm really trying to find out if Achillies is the Archillies listed in the 2nd Cherokee Mtd Vol , Co. C as LT. My Achillies is Achillies Garrard Ballinger..Garrard is fromGarrard County Ky where his family lived before he was born in Missouri. Achillies is common name in our family and was also his Grandfathers name and a Son's name. With missspellings common in both the History Books and Rosters I think it must be one in the saame but not sure yet.Since his wife was from Arkansas he could have practiced medicine there. I will have to check there also. The daughter he was to visit was Sarah Levitia bMaysville Ark. b 17 Jan 1864 at Maysville Ark. This would not match as the Battle of Honey Springs was in 1863. So I just keep going in circles with this one.
