I am searching for info on a Joseph Duran/Durand/Durant who rumor has it, died in the CW c 1862. He would have been in a S. AL unit, possibly Baldwin Co. He is listed on the 1850 census for Walton Co., FL, but moved to AL in 1854. Believe he was a descendent of Sehoy I (Creek), Bejamin Durant/Sophia McGillivray, Lachlan Durant, etc. His surname has been listed all three ways, Duran, Durand and Durant, but his descendents in Baldwin Co., use the Durant spelling. Any help would be appreciated. Have requested military records, with no reply. Thanks.
