In Response To: James W. Helton, C.S.A. ()

I have a John W. Helton, pvt., Co. B, 32nd Al. Inf. Co. B was formed at Mobile and had several commanding officers, John Drew (resigned), Charles Gardner (resigned), Hinson Smith (resigned) Hugh McF. Tatum (died inservice). There are a couple of more John Heltons listed, but Escambia Countly is very near Mobile and this look like a good possibility. I find a Henry Helton with the 41 Al. Inf. pvt and another Henry Helton with the 17th Al. Inf. pvt.

Go to http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/alregts.html

I hope I've typed that correctly. Dr. Ken Jones has regimental histors for Al. Units.

If this turns out not to be your man, let me know and we can look again.
