Re: Alla Nakni & Col. Sampson Folsom

Hi, Kathy,

Eliza Folsom was Cherokee. She married my great-grandpa,
McKee King, who signed the treaty between the Choctaw/Chickasaw and the CSA. Eliza's brother is Col. Sampson Folsom.

The Folsom's are, indeed, represented in both the Choctaw and Cherokee Nations.

I have sent for Col. Folsom's service records already.

Alla Nakni was the son of Kiamichi, daughter of the Choctaw chief, Moshulatubbe. Therefore, she's my great-aunt(3), and Alla Nakni, my cousin. All I really know about him is that he died at Antietam. Choctaw names are quite fluid, so it's possible he had another name as well. I was hoping someone might know what Indian companies served at Antietam; perhaps I could search him out that way.

In any case, I'd love to find out who this mysterious Alla Nakni was. I do know, at least, that he died in service for the South.

Best,

Mac

I'm probably really wrong, but you're more likely to find the Folsoms on the Choctaw Rolls-- this is a prevalent Choctaw name, though there is no reason that a Folsom couldn't be Cherokee! kath
