The 20th Texas Cavalry (dismounted)Company K, under a Capt.M. McGee was present at the battle. July 17,1863. I believe it was this group that was held in reserve and brought into play to hold the bridge across Elk Creek when the Confederate side began its retreat. Hope this helps!
