Re: Battle of honey Springs photos/art

David,

The book " Our Oklahoma" by Muriel Wright has a picture of Generals Cooper and Blunt. There is also a drawing of what some news correspondent/artist thought the battle site looked like. As you probably know , the battle field "moved" around a little during the fracas. Years ago , Dr Leroy Fischer ( prof. at Okla State Univ.in the 1960sand an expert on this battle ) wrote a small book about the Battle of Honey Springs. In that paperback document , he included photographs of the battlefield from the 1950s or 60s. Basically the photographs show traces of the old Texas Road , along which , the battle was fought. In the last 15-20 years or so , there has been a good deal of activity at the former battlefield site. It may even be a state park or a state historical site now. I'm sure there are those in the Oklahoma State Historical Department in Okla. City that could be of more help. If you strike out , let me know and I'll see if I can help you . Regards , Craig
