Re: Battle of honey Springs photos/art

I neglected to mention that since 1963, an annual Memorial Service is held on the Saturday closest to the date of the battle. In recent years this has been held at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon and the annual business meetings of the Friends. This event is open to the public free of charge (though the Friends would appreciate having your $5.00 annual dues!).

Also on July 17-18, 2003, the Friends are sponsoring a "140th Anniversary Symposium" at the Fountainhead Lodge on Lake Eufaula -- which is approx. 14 miles from the battlefield. The symposium will feature scholarly papers by recognized experts on the Civil War in the Indian Territory, a banquet, and a battlefield tour followed by a luncheon talk by Ed Bearss. More information will be available on our web site (whenever our ISP manager gets it re-connected): <http://checotah.lakewebs.net/honeysprings>
