I checked my copy of the Confederate pension index and there is no pension for George Newton. In fact, the only Newton listed is F. M.

In my "collection" of Confederate soldiers, I have found a G. W. Newton buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore. His grave indicates he served in Co. D, 38th Virginia Inf. I have a photo of his grave if you are interested in receiving it via e-mail.

I show Mr. Newton's DOB as 28 December 1845 and DOD as 5 December 1938. I have not yet had a chance to check for an obituary but will eventually.
